A speed and consumption claim is not a fixed number.
It is the result of how the calculation is built.
That's where the difference comes from.
01
Weather filtering
Which hours qualify as “good weather” — and how that threshold is applied — can materially change the result.
02
Exclusion periods
Not all time at sea counts. Periods outside the charterparty warranty must be identified and excluded.
Weather, traffic, mandatory speed reduction, charterers’ instructions, off-hire events — each can affect the calculation.
These periods are not always correctly identified — and when they are missed or misapplied, the final amount changes directly.
03
Methodology & terms
How performance is measured, which reference figures are used, and whether the calculation aligns with the charterparty — each directly affects the outcome.
The data does not change.
The result does.
Because the result depends on how the calculation is constructed.
Every choice changes the result. The claimants know exactly what they're doing. You should too.
A real example
Same Voyage.
Different Calculation.
The difference was not in the facts — it was in how the facts were interpreted.

Same voyage. Same data. Same weather conditions.
The difference was in what was included — and what was left out — in line with the charterparty.
USD 62,000 is not a saving. It is an amount that was about to be paid. Nothing changed. Only the calculation changed.
In a shipowner’s office, many things run at the same time. There isn’t always time to go through every line of a claim. That’s when numbers like this pass through — not because something was missed, but because no one had the time to go all the way through it.
You shouldn’t have to pay for that.

Tanker Claims
Tanker Claims Require a Different Level of Analysis
Tanker claims are more complex — and the consequences of a missed allocation are proportionally larger.
The data is denser. Claim periods are significantly longer — particularly in period time charters, where a tanker’s performance may be assessed only once per year. And unlike bulk carrier claims, tanker voyages involve operations that generate significant additional auxiliary consumption: cargo heating, tank cleaning, IGG operation, purging. These must be correctly identified, timed, and excluded from the performance calculation.
The issue is not the existence of consumption — it is how it is allocated.
Over a long voyage, one misclassified period compounds into a significant claim amount. Charterers know this. Their calculation is built on specific choices — which periods qualify, which are excluded, how each 6-hour block is treated, how relative consumption is applied.
You need someone who has been through enough of these calculations to know which data points drive the result — and what to question when they don’t add up.
We have reviewed over 100 tanker charterparty claims. That is what allows the vessel’s actual performance to be separated from the claimant’s choices.
This requires not only detailed analysis, but experience in knowing what to look for, what to isolate, and what each figure actually represents.
— where to look
— what to isolate
— what can be misinterpreted
You cannot leave the outcome to the claimant’s choices. You need to understand what was selected, what was ignored, and why.

How the process works
Step 1
Send the claim.
We review it. We tell you how much it can be reduced and why — in simple terms.
Step 2 — Free
This initial review is free.
If you do not proceed — no fee.
If you are satisfied with our initial calculation and would like the full data analysis, calculations and technical report — continue to Step 3 →
Step 3 — If you proceed

The claim may require revisions before it is settled. We do not charge anything until the claim is settled.
Settlement
15% of the reduction achieved.
Calculated on the difference between the initial claim amount and the final settled amount. Nothing else.
Not every claim is wrong.
But every calculation should be verified.
Because once accepted, the result becomes
